Our Story

Gravity Training, founding company of the now thriving Gravity Group, was established in 1999 by owner, Gert Forster. 

The company has since grown from a single-room, small operation to a group of entities with 3 official office locations in South Africa, multiple satellite venues throughout South Africa and the African continent, and an office in Australia.

Gert Forster

– Director – 

The founding father of the Gravity Group, Gert Forster is a born and bred Pretorian. Across a illustrious work at height career (a deviation from his studies in Nature Life Management) Gert achieved IRATA and IWH level 3 status early on and has continued to improve not only himself but the entire industry and has been doing so since 1994. It should come as no surprise that Gert has a love for heights, the outdoors and people.

Ryno Griesel

– Director – 

Ryno Griesel was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and after making quick work of his Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification (as well as becoming an Independent Auditor and a SARS Tax Practitioner) he turned his attention to the work at height industry. With a passion for people and making a difference through business combined with a love for climbing and adventure, Ryno and the Gravity Group were a perfect fit from the start. He has been involved with the Gravity Group since 2005.

Andries Nel

– Director – 

Hailing from the Freestate, Andries has been with Gravity since 2012. He completed his B.Com Financial Management and then went on to become a SAIPA Accounting Technician as well as obtaining his CIMA Certificate. He has a passion for business that focusses on service delivery, honesty, integrity and quality. His aim is to help grow to company to such and extent where we can have the opportunity to give back to the community at large.

Trudie Swanepoel

– Managing Director – 

After completing her articles at Griesel Nel Inc., Trudie was appointed as accountant at Gravity Training and promoted to the Financial Manager after a few years. With expansion in the Gravity Group, she then took on the role of Managing Director of Gravity Group Holdings (parent to 6 operational entities). For the past few years, the responsibility of this role has been balancing three pillars within the entity namely Finances, People and Structure.
